Portraits of Motherhood
Motherhood brought me to painting. The birth of my first child, in 2014, catalyzed my return to art after a near 20-year hiatus. In attempting to capture the experience of new motherhood I inadvertently stumbled onto a path of exploring themes of safety, connection, bodily wisdom and somatic memory. Creating images of holding, or being held, help to heal a part of me, so I suspect I will always make them.
